As the new Chief Finance Officer you will inspire excellent financial leadership to ensuring Salford remains in a position of financial strength for the long term. Following the retirement of a well-respected incumbent, you will inherit a strong and committed team to lead on a journey of continual improvement. Reporting to the Executive Director Resources & Transformation and the Chief Executive, this is a highly visible role on the Corporate Management Team involving working closely with both senior officers and members. You will lead the council budget strategy finding clarity in a climate of funding uncertainty and ensuring effective financial planning and operations. You will undertake the statutory S151 duties ensuring the sound financial administration and monitoring, making certain of Salford’s financial resilience.
To be a success, you will be a qualified accountant and with demonstrable success of managing large-scale public finances in a highly effective way. A natural collaborator, your partnering skills will be used in working closely with our health partners, with whom we pool money at scale in both Children’s Services and Adult Social Care. You will also be involved in exciting capital projects, helping ensure the economic growth of Salford benefits communities.
